A QUICK INTRODUCTION

Broom Nursery is a friendly, safe environment for children to enjoy their pre school years.

Broom Nursery is held in the Ninian Hall behind Broom Church. We operate throughout the academic year (term time) from Monday to Friday mornings with a start of 9.00a.m and collection time of 12.10p.m. Wraparound is available each day from 8.45 – 9.00 a.m.  Further wraparound is available after the morning session until 12.45 p.m on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays.

Broom Nursery operates in partnership with East Renfrewshire Council to provide early years education for children aged 2years 10months -5years covering children’s ante pre and pre-school years. We are a non-denominational nursery and are managed by Mrs Dorothy Waldron

We are registered by the Care Inspectorate to accommodate 28 children places from the age of 2yrs 10moths until school age. The ratio we are working  with is 1:10 ratio for 3 yrs-5yrs and 1:5 ratio for 2 yrs and 10 mths.

Throughout the nursery year staff and children plan a variety of learning experiences and activities which cover many aspects of the Curriculum of Excellence. These have included My family, Harvest, Eid, Diwali, St Andrew’s Day, Christmas and the Chinese New Year. We use our garden and the surrounding environment to enhance the children’s outdoor learning. Photographs of our activities are added to our Facebook page and ones with the children are added to our web site under the parents’ page (this is password protected).

Once a month the children have the opportunity to participate in additional Physical Activity through ‘Enjoyaball’  sessions. Fortnightly the children are provided with a Bookbug session. These can also be accessed at your local library. We all have a ‘Lending Library’ system.

Through a variety of fundraising events the children have been actively involved in raising funds to purchase new resources for the nursery. For example: – sponsored scooter race, a Christmas Fayre and Charity Boxes.

Asda and Waitrose have supported us with their ‘Green tokens’ community events in their stores.

The children have healthy snacks and follow a tooth brushing programme. If you wish any more information please contact Dorothy on 07984556544 or alternatively e-mail us on broomnursery@tiscali.co.uk  with any enquiry.
